This project is a restoration I completed of a formal Arts and Crafts home in Glenridge, NJ. My work won an award from the American Victorian Society.
Stripped and stained woodwork throughout the house with a custom grey-green patina.
Rebuilt fireplace mantle. Stripped and refinished fireplace brickwork.
Repaired all plaster in preparation for paint and wallpaper.
These pocket doors were trapped inside the wall for more than 40 years. I freed them by removing the floor and subfloor and replaced it with 1" x 6" oak plank.
Remade all window screens throughout.
Constructed built-in shelving units and cabinets in the library. Continued crown molding and base molding around new cabinets to give appearance that they were original to the house.
All doors on third floor were custom made.
The entire third floor was gutted. A central air system was installed. All pine trim and doors were removed and replaced with oak to match the remainder of the house. Replaced all plaster walls and ceilings throughout the third floor.
Added knee-wall storage.
Rebuilt rotted eyebrow window and replaced hardware.
