I like to start my concepts from ink blots I make. I do this to help me break out of preconcieved notions of what an item "looks like" and makes it easier to pick interesting shapes that may not be conventional.
Haunted sword - The shattered blade of a long defeated hero.
Haunted shield - Perhaps this was a decorative shield strengthened by the spirit that now possesses it.
Head of a haunted staff.
Haunted shield - looks like it could be made of bones. Shoulderblades, jawbones, clavicles etc.
The chaos in this haunted sword reminds me aof a furious poltergeist.
