Archive Island
The project is placed on one the islands in Vltava River, Prague 4. Its placement tempts people away from the busy city streets to come and register life events, specifically births, deaths and marriages. While the function is the registration and storing of these documents, the building encourages strangers to not only share their life experiences, but to witness how their identity travels through the building as paper documents and memorabilia. The bureaucratic procedure found when dealing with the paper documents, becomes transparent throughout the building; seen in its intersecting spaces and stark contrasts between the celebratory, mourning and storage spaces.
