Plaster Sculpture "Habitat"

I created this sculpture by forming molds out of clay, pouring liquid plaster into the molds, and removing the clay to reveal the hardened plaster forms. To build upon the main hardened plaster form, I rested the plaster form onto each new mold that was filled with liquid plaster so that the form could adhere to the wet plaster inside of the new mold. The wet, liquid plaster adhered to the dry plaster forms as the liquid dried. As I built upon the forms, I cleaned the forms with brushes and water and refined edges and texture with small, metal picks. When the entire form was complete, I used water-based acrylics, metallic spray paint, and a sponge to add color to the form.
