Ardea cinerea (common name: grey heron) is a predatory bird of the Ardeidae family that hunts its preys (fishes, amphibians, small mammals, crustaceans and molluscs) in shallow waters.
Curiosity: it's the species of heron that goes further north, so much that in summer is easy to meet it along the Norwegian coast, well beyond the Arctic circle.
These pictures where taken in northern Italy.
