Nina McGee's profile

Experimental Type Book

The concept of this book is to explore the warped perception of reality that John Hinckley expressed in his 1981 letter to actress Jodie Foster. Paired with his letter is radical feminists Andrea Dworkin's interview from the same year. In Hinckley's letter, he writes to Foster describing that he has been stalking her for months and if she doesn't agree to love him he will assassinate President Ronald Regan. In Dworkin's interview she describes how the abuse she endured from men was always pushed aside because she is a woman.

These two texts are combined to juxtapose Hinckley's toxic masculinity with Dworkin's stance on feminist ideals. To portray Hinckley's warped perception, I used a scanner and photocopier to dysmorph the typography, as well as tearing and ripping paper.
