Apus apus (common name: common swift) is a small migratory bird of the Apodid family.
The swift spends most of its time in the air where it hunts winged insects, mates and even sleeps.
The common swift is a long-range migrant: it nests in almost all of Europe, from the Iberian peninsula to Scandinavia, in the Mediterranean countries, from North Africa to the Middle East, and in part of Asia, up to China and Siberia; overwinters in much of sub-Saharan Africa.
These individuals were photographed in northern Italy.
