Future City: An exhibition for future generations

Final Project: NATURE, DESIGN and THE FUTURE
DESIGN INTENT
What is beauty and how do we relate to it? What does beauty and the role of design look like in the future? Is there a space for nature within this future? These are some of the questions the proposal will try to answer, through a new alternative for educational entertainment. The proposal will include suitable solutions for all ages, primarily focusing on engaging and interactive attractions for elementary school aged kids, their educators, and family members.  This proposed museum exhibit will explore design, and how it relates to the future and nature as a collaborative, impactful, and constrained discipline. It will also address how design is a tool for agency. The exhibit will dive into the topics of technology and the role of design within extreme environments.  The role of play in education will be introduced through interactive, sensory, and free play exhibits. Games will be used as tools for learning about complex issues and free play will be a way to learn about oneself, others, the environment and how they relate to each other. This experience will allow participants to understand more deeply how they can influence the futures  of our cities, societies, and nature, through design.

We want the future generation to understand some of the problems that exist in the world today, and the agency that they have to use design to ameliorate them.

What is the best way to communicate to the next generation that they have agency through design and to help them understand existing design problems in an engaging manner?

How would future food look like? Am I eating what I am eating?
As food in the future can be designed to be grown in extreme environments, people have to adjust the way to produce and consume food in the most efficient, most environment-friendly way. The whole experience is to guide people through the imaginative world in the future to see how food could be made, and get themselves a whimsical taste of the future food they order or what they custom designed for themselves!

In Cafe 3000, we also offer a wide variety of unique food to the table. We tend to encourage children and adults to play with different ingredients and the special platters we designed. As food are served, they’ll receive a piece of information of how many calories they’ll be consuming and how does their food affect our environment.
