Linear Birdforms
I experimented with a geometric style of illustration, creating a net of triangular shapes which I then filled with solid blocks of colour.
Using varying shades and tints which together aggregate to form shadows and in turn a 3D effect to the birds. I chose birds as my main animal to experiment with as I have always been fascinated with them as a poetic and artistic symbol of freedom.
Birds can be hard to capture in drawings due to the intricate details to their feathers. Therefore, the choice to capture them in a linear, reimagined style creates an interesting juxtaposition between the smooth lines of their form and their interior contours.
