Times Square Billboards: Brooklyn Rising

Brooklyn Rising is a project that aims to bring the borough of Brooklyn its own ball on New Year’s Eve, similar to the Ball Drop in Times Square. Except this time, Brooklyn Rising’s ball is designed to rise instead of drop, hence the concept of, “Why drop the ball? When you can raise it!” The idea is a play on the phrase, “drop the ball,” which is often associated with failure, not being on your “A game,” etc. By saying “why drop the ball,” we are lightheartedly poking fun at the Ball Drop in Times Square, while emphasizing on how Brooklyn Rising is leveling up by having a ball that rises instead of drops.
