HDFC Mobile App (Redesign) | Practice Project

HDFC Bank Ltd. is an Indian banking and financial services company headquartered in Mumbai, Maharashtra.
Being a customer of the bank, I started to use their authorised app on Android and iPhone. After regular use, I came across several points which are not helping a customer complete a task smoothly.

Some points that I, as a customer, noticed regarding the user interface:
• Not-Navigating a user through a smooth user flow.
• Un-sorted way to display other services.
• Outdated UI design.
• Not letting a user search for a required service.

I, being an experienced designer, took into consideration the user comments on Google Play Store and iOS App Store and experimented with redesigning the user interface, keeping some features as they are in the existing apps and also adding/modifying some features that can lead a user to complete a task smoothly and efficiently.

With respect to the current internet connections and mobile phone specifications, I kept the UI design simple with few animations to take up less loading time and processing time.

Some of the points I want to emphasise to establish my views:
• SIMPLIFIED USER FLOW: A simple & simplified user flow can guide a user to complete a task easily & quickly through the app. Also kept the app colour scheme as per the primary and the secondary colour of the HDFC logo colours and used Grey as the base colour.

• NO IMAGE: Tried not to use an image (preferable SVG), so the app loads faster.

• LOGIN SCREEN: A separate login screen. Login, Other app links, relevant quick services, and Other services can be accessed without logging in.

• SEARCH TOOL: Introduced a Search tool which will let the user search for the desired service is looking for.

• HIGHLIGHTING: Updated card designs have been introduced to highlight the main account details on the home screen. Card scroll design is a way for the user to navigate through their accounts if they have multiple accounts linked.

The primary services on the home page let the user find the desired service in a much shorter amount of time.
