As part of celebrating Mecca Cosmetica's success in New Zealand they wanted to show their appreciation, by creating a special edition New Zealand city makeup product range.
Invercargill is not only well known for their amazing historic roots and iconic Bluff oysters, this small South-land city is also very well known for it's beautiful scenery surrounded by rivers and oceans. Because of this Mecca Cosmetica wanted to highlight this beautiful feature, by bringing out a makeup line that resembles and portrays Invercargill's identity.
To emphasis their strong connection towards Bluff oysters, I explored and created a die line shape that resembles the shape, feel and experience of an oyster shell. Through development phases I created a marble texture to bring in the look inside of a shell, while also bringing in key streets and suburbs within Invercargill to wrap around the side faces.
To strengthen the overall look and experience related back to the oyster shell and ocean, I incorporated silk linings and cushioned bedding. This brings it back to the feel of the wet silky ocean, and look of the shimmering pearls contained inside the oyster; as well as the product being placed on the cushion (as the pearl revealed, laying within the oyster bed).
