Persuasive poster

Title: Poster idea 1
Technique: Pencil drawing
Process: My persuasive poster is aimed towards young adults (20-25 year olds) and the cause is the environment. My posters try to convince the target audience to alter their diets and reduce the amount of meat they eat as it is a major factor to climate change. My first poster is a a pencil sketch of 2 cartoon broccoli looking very happy. The quotes at the top are repetitive to portray the message I'm trying to send and to have a more convincing tone. To gather inspiration I first search up current environmental posters that refer to climate change and diet change. Then I ideated and did different pencil drawings until I had a poster I liked.
Reflection: This poster seems a bit too childish for my target audience, the poster seems like a healthy eating, "eat your vegetables" vibe poster for young children who are still testing out different fruits and vegetables. As well as that the layout of the poster isn't very eye catching, if I placed the drawing above the words and had "HEALTHY EATING" and "HEALTHY PLANET", the poster will be more aesthetically pleasing.

Title: Poster idea 2
Technique: Pencil drawing
Process: This is my second poster idea. It is a pencil drawing and to make the lines stand out more I traced it with a black colouring pencil. I decided to draw a falafel kebab because lots of young adults like to eat cheap, efficiently made and yummy food. A kebab fits into that category, however, people tend to put chicken or beef or lamb in it. In my poster, in order to promote a diet change I chose a food everyone knows, has eaten and is well liked and promoted the vegetarian option. The words give more context to the image and send the message of diet changing to help attack climate change.
Reflection: The format of the poster follows the Z formation, which is the way our eyes red something. Following the formation it creates a story and is able to send out my message. I like the idea of the poster, however, the sentences chosen sound awkward.

Title: Poster idea 3
Technique: Pencil drawing
Process: This is my third poster idea. This is a more simple poster and really draws attention to the cow in the middle. This is a very powerful poster and really tells the audience the relation between eating meat and climate change. I decided to draw a cow and section it into different parts of the cow, but instead of stating which part is the cows shoulder or stomach, I wrote down results or reasons why eating meat, can be more harmful to the environment than you think. I chose to use the words "Consume Differently" because it is straightforward, easy to understand and directly relates to the image and the meaning of the poster.
Reflection: I think this poster is really powerful and efficiently helps portray the message easily, however, I think it doesn't really attract my target audience and is quite confronting. Therefore, I don't think this is the appropriate poster to use.

Title: Poster final (one colour)
Technique: Adobe illustrator
Process: After choosing the poster I think attracts my target audience and also relates to my issue, I rendered it on Adobe Illustrator to make is neater and more presentable/ professional. I scanned my drawing onto my laptop and traced over it using the pen tool and used many layers. I changed the wording of my sentences to make it flow better. It is a sort of rhetorical question which makes the audience question themselves and interact with the poster. Is is funny/ punny yet addresses my issue, my poster addresses the problem and also an easy "solution" anyone can attempt.
Reflection: My persuasive poster follows the 'Z formation', as the audience's eyes read/skim over the poster, it follows a story. It first tells them the issue, and then shows them an image of something the recognise and enjoy eating and then lastly, presenting them with the solution which directly links to the recognisable drawing.

Title: Poster final (colour)
Technique: Adobe illustrator
Process: This is my finalised poster with colour. With the colours, it makes it easier to identify the different vegetables in the kebab. The poster looks more aesthetically pleasing and the colours make it more eye catching. This is a flat lay design to keep the poster simple and I chose to use a turquoise colour as the background because it makes people calm and hungry.
Reflection: Overall, I think my persuasive poster fits my target demographic and is able to send out the message of the consequences of meat consumption on the climate in a relatable and humorous manner.
