Persuasive Poster
DVB102 | Week 4 | #oneperday19 | Images 11 - 15

The topic of week 4 was persuasive posters. We had to develop five images; three were different iterations for the design of the poster, and the last two were the final poster, one in one colour and the other in full colour. This persuasive poster has been designed for blood donation, persuading people to give blood to help save lives. Blood donation needs to be encouraged more as one in three Australians will need blood or blood products in their life, while only 3% of Australians donate blood each year, according to Australia Red Cross Blood Service.

Design Iterations
MATERIALS
Cartridge paper
Lead pencil
Coloured markers

Process
Three quick sketches were drawn to plan ideas for the persuasive poster, then one was chosen to develop and produce a high quality image. The tools used to create these images were pencil and markers for the quick sketches to map out poster ideas. The target audience for this poster were young adults (20-25 year olds) and the design iterations aim to catch their attention. Making a connection to their phone, family and friends, which are all important to this age group. Also, making them think about the not too distant future, if they have a child, will they be part of the 4% that need blood from giving birth.
MATERIALS
Adobe Photoshop
Adobe Illustrator

Process
The target audience for this poster were young adults (20-25 year olds) who are very much on their phone, which is why the Apple notification appears and says people need blood. Making a link to something in their everyday life, such as phone notifications, will hopefully remind them about this poster every time they receive a notification.

Reflection
The minimal use of colour helps to highlight the action that we want them to do, donate blood. It is a simple persuasive poster but that helps to make the message more powerful and not get caught up in unnecessary information.
