The Alan Turing poster contrasts Turing's legacy as a mathematician and computer scientist with his criminal conviction for homosexuality in 1952. He took his own life two years later at the age of 41. The UK would decriminalize homosexuality between men in 1967, and Turing was posthumously pardoned in 2013.
The Edgar Allen Poe poster began with a string dipped in acrylic paint. The string was sandwiched between a folded sheet of paper and pulled out, giving the abstract shapes below. The symmetry in the paint inspired the final design.
