Virtual Reality Interactive Story Project
Within this university project we created a 3D interactive story which we designed to be played using Virtual Reality, in our case the Oculus Rift. This story had to have four branches by splitting into two at one point and then each branch splitting in two once more.
The marks from this project were also 50% of the total marks for two modules. For these two modules I got 65% and 87% respectively. This project also provided 60% of the marks for the introduction to algorithms module in which I get 65% from this project. The main thing I learnt from this project is how to work with Virtual Reality within Unity, as well as learning how to work in Unity 3D. I also learnt how to use alpha channels within Photoshop as well as learning how to make 3D models in 3ds Max. Finally, I learnt how to create animations in Adobe After Effects, 3ds Max and Unity as well as having to get to know new people quickly so that we could plan around people’s strengths and weaknesses. If I could create this game again without everyone having to code certain things to get a good mark on the modules, I would make sure every team member did tasks that they excelled in rather than struggling with tasks that someone else is better at.
