'Wild and Winging It', acrylic, music score and gold leaf on canvas, 61x91x4cm (2013)

 

In this piece I have tried to capture the spirit of birds with bright fluorescent paint to show their presence and energy, as well as painting the birds onto music score so that music is literally within them. Gold is used as a backdrop to elevate their status and hint at their divinity, just as religious paintings use gold to depict holy figures and finches themselves are a sparkly omen of high energy and bright days on the horizon....
