Banking portal - product design

Client: NDA
Feature: Batch payments

Making the payment process more efficient and less expensive is a priority for online merchants. For customer satisfaction, a streamlined, real-time transaction process is a necessity.

With batch processing, a number of authorized transactions are processed at the same time. This can be done at any time, but it is most cost effective to do it just once per day, as the credit card processor charges a fee every time a batch is processed.

My client wanted to enhance the existing baking portal with a new capability of batch payments.

Flows I worked on:
Upload and view a batch of payments - UX/UI, prototyping and user testing
Approve and reject a batch of payments - UX/UI
Check file upload log - UX/UI

Conclusions of the user testing were:

- keep the upload button in one place, empty state or not, otherwise it produces confusion

- don't use notifications for upload progress and open the upload progress log every time an upload starts, sticky for the first time, after that it will disappear in 3 to 5 seconds

- animate loading icon in the head navigation, as the user can navigate to other features while the upload is in progress

- success notifications should include a CTA only when the user is on another page than Batches in order to ease navigation
