PROJECT COMPLETION AND FULFILLMENT SPRING 2019

Mono no aware is a short collection of poetry and prose. Named after the ancient Japanese aesthetic principle, this work offers a unique take on the idea and explores the notion that all beautiful elements of life are imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete.

DESIGN AND FORMATTING

The cover image is darker. It is of a woman's embrace around an empty hallway with an open window, blowing the curtains. This was to represent again the idea of impermanence and wistfulness, the central themes of the book. The title positioning is a signature of mine making things right justified, Also, the title text fades from a light grey to white, even further driving the central themes.

STRUCTURE

The book is divided into three sections. imperfect, Impermanent, and Incomplete. These titles are styled to match the essence of the word/part, and the poems within each section represent the part titles in either their construction or subject matter.
