Tijara Fort-Palace
Built in the 19th Century, Tijara Fort is located about 2 hours from Delhi in Alwar district, Rajasthan.
The fort is being restored and run as a heritage hotel by Neemrana Hotels Pvt. Ltd.
My work involved :
Architectural: study and documentation of the existing structures on site; studying economic feasibility; phase wise site layout and planning; preparing proposals for changed end use; civil repairs and restoration; restoration of missing architectural elements like doors, windows, railings etc; planning for services and infrastructures; issuing drawings for implementation on site; checking on progress of work through timely site visits; interaction with site managers, craftsmen, contractors and masons; planning for addition of new structures if required; sensitively merging of new structures with old structures through merging of new materials and new styles of construction with the old; assessing new property offers and studying feasibility of restoration and commerce.
Interiors: working on flooring designs, soft furnishings, paintings, furniture, bathroom finishes etc to create theme based room interiors rendering a unique identity to each new room; upgradation of existing interiors for all Neemrana properties with site visits.
Management: selection and purchase of materials; coordination with vendors and site managers; checking cost feasibility and estimates; preparing quarterly progress reports for Government records.
