Photography

This was not an assignment, but an opportunity that resulted when I attended an extended family gathering.

One little girl of my relatives stood out from the rest in her actions of rambunctious energy to run around the playground of a park at breakneck speed with her juice-stained mouth. She had such enthusiasm for every and all activities that her cousins were doing, her small size and stature no hindrance at all, yet also curious of everything going on around. I squatted down as she raced around and chanced at the right time called out her name to get her attention, and she stopped dead in her tracks for an instant, seeing I was about to take her picture. She looked at me with her intense eyes with all the innocence only a small child can possess, waited patiently for the shutter to click, and then instantly resumed her racing around the play area once the picture was taken, laughing and yelling. In looking back at the experience, it made me think back to when I was a child without a care in the world as I played. Ah, to be young and free again!

I'm also into infrared photography. Infrared is a very different discipline than traditional photography because we can't see infrared with the naked eye, and our cameras aren't normally built to take pictures in that light. The results can make even mundane things become surreal.
