The Variable Fire Danger Rating Sign
As of 2019, A Fire Danger Rating Sign's main purpose is to clearly communicate information about the current fire danger rating. They fail to yield an emotional reaction from road users about the fatal nature of bush fires.
Variable Typography has been applied to Fire Danger Rating Signs in order to create new meaning. Using an outdoor LED panel screens, the variable typeface is able to fluctuate between its different weights depending on the current rating.
Used within the Fire Danger Rating Sign is a variable font named Safety First. Specifically, designed for road signage, It is able to be easily read at any weight.
