Kelp-Weave Tote Bag

The tote bag is a simple and classic design, which will allow me to demonstrate the material when used on a large product, as well as demonstrate its durability and strength. The design is one based on a tote bag that I own. It is made from 3 different panels, 1 for the front and back of the body, and another 2 for the handles. This is simple, but it means that the sheet for the body has to be large. The main body is going to be around 32cm high and 35cm wide. The whole body will be around 64cm in length, as the main body is folded in half and sewn down the sides. A central reason these simple designs is that I want people to be able to understand how flexible the material can be. I did not want to do anything experimental with these two designs, as it would appear that the kelp was a key part of the experimental design. Instead, I want to use classic, simple, mainstream, gender neutral designs, to show the potential of the material in everyday life.
