Design proposal for Huari, one of the most popular beers in Bolivia. The brand held a contest to update their packaging, and even though this one didn't win, I had a lot of fun thinking about it. The brief concentrated in keeping some aspects of the culture alive, like the colors, texture, and the UNU the diamond-like spiral structure that holds a deep meaning to the Wari community in Oruro, Bolivia.
From Myth to Reality
The largest stories go beyond limits, even those of time. Huari is a legend that becomes a reality.
The story about how this beer brand went on to become so important for the region and then, the whole nation starts with a legend. A man once in love with a beautiful dark skinned woman had to battle a giant to win her over. They reincarnated into mountains, and to prove his love, the man sends a cascade of the purest water as proof of there undying love.
The Unu is very important for the Tiwanacu people, symbolizing water and usually used in knitting patterns.
