The Paradox Church Women's Conference

The Paradox Church Women’s Conference of 2017 was all about reminding women of their worth in Jesus; that as God’s daughters we are a precious piece of artwork that he meticulously crafted for His glory. Based on Ephesians 2:10, the hope for this event was to bring women of different ages, life phases, and experiences all together. Unified, crafted by God, empowered women.
DESIGN SOLUTION:
We are God’s ultimate creation. His cherry on top of an exquisite sundae. What what is that sundae made other than the cherry on top? It is the towering mountains, the roaring seas, the delicate blades of grass swishing in westward wind. All of these elements bind together to create a harmonious place on earth for us to enjoy. Focusing on the element of water, the branding for this event involves inspiration from the intricate, overlapping layers of cartography, the organic shapes created from roaring waves and sea foam as it hits a rocky shore, and the way paint and water react to one another when they meet.
TARGET AUDIENCE:
When people think of a women’s conference held at a church the first few things that pop into your head are: floral illustrations, trendy geometric decor, macrame. You know, every pinterester’s dream. For this event, the main focus was unity and as such creating branding that didn’t delineate femininity to a predictable aesthetic. This event is for mothers, college students, singles, doctors, teachers, artists, and everyone in between.

COLOR PALETTE:
You’re standing at the edge of a stormy shoreline as the sea and sky darken to a deep teal. As your feet sink into the sand deeper and deeper with each crashing wave, you nervously twist your wrist at your side. Your layers of metal bracelets clang against one another sounding like a wind chime being blown by the storm’s winds.

TYPE PALETTE:
When you look out at the ocean you are struck by it’s sheer power one day and it’s utter tranquility the next. How can something be so unpredictable and peaceful at the same time? Only the wildest things are. The type palette for this branding represents the juxtaposition of nature’s simultaneously wild and delicate demeanor by pairing a smooth and slender sans serif type with a whimsical, decorative type.
