Fundraising Event Design

I took part in the Design Like Mad annual event, where participants created designs for various non-profit organizations. My partner and I worked on a design for GIGI’s Playhouse Madison Down Syndrome Achievement Center, which empowers those with Down Syndrome and their families to reach their highest potential for no charge.

Their brief was to develop a design for the most important annual fundraising event that happens every October, which is “Down syndrome awareness month.”

We had to include the “i have a Voice” logo, which was established by the National Leadership, and the GIGI’s international logo.

Target Audience:
Gender: any
Age: 25-75
From: Madison metro area
Income: $100k+/year households

Though the organization works primarily with children, they required designs to look official rather than playful, since the participants of the event are adults.

I picked a shade of blue to convey continence, commitments, and determination. I also added rounded shapes to indicate calm, empathy, emotional sensitivity, trust, and goodwill.

My partner and I split the work and focused on different components of the project.
I was responsible for developing a general theme and creating invitation cards, a poster, and a letterhead.
