I have been working on the AIRDOGS project for the last two years. It is vol 1 of the Dogfight graphic novel series and a 160 page full colour book that is full of action, airplanes, humour, drama and suspense with historical fact sewn into the narrative. The author Tim Holden brought me over to England to work with him on this true story about his father who was a fighter pilot for the Polish army during WWII and relates his incredible journey escaping Nazi's and close encounters with hostile Russians. The first year of the project was spent developing the story in amongst doing design work for his outdoor clothing company Arktis (Please see related project). The story was compelling enough for me to want to move country to come and tell it. The hero of the story only started speaking about his experiences of the war at the age of eighty eight and it's a wonder to think how many incredible tales like his have been left untold...
Airdogs has been told through the use of anthropromorphism. During the development phase we decided to call the series Dogfight as in the term for an aerial battle and the idea of the characters being dogs was brought up and quickly adopted.
