TIME AS PARADOX - Gardening

TIME AS PARADOX
A land of dump-yard to converting into a sustainable garden was a part of our journey to understand the land and its surrounding. It was an initiative to build a relationship with gardening as Art and Design collectively as an embodied practice. By understanding the land, the plants and the environment around it, one can get a huge narrative behind it. From plantation to digging up the land to the fencing of the land, time has expanded to a great extent. One can get lots of information from that and it is necessary to put these into a form of art and design practice using technology.

The first illustration explains how the land was a dump yard and how it got turned into a sustainable rain garden.

The second illustration depicts about community engagement, that is, how local people and other faculties are reacting and observing the garden and what are their response.

The third layer depicts about perspectives of other people towards to it and how other creatures like earthworms, butterflies, dogs, cows and other insects are coming into the garden making it into a very healthy environment for every single being.
Today we live in a world where we can have any style of Gardening but we are living in a concrete world by being blind to the fact that this Earth is not ours, we are just a part of it. So we decided to make a conscious awareness by building a community garden.

Bangalore is the Garden city of India and here people are very much interested in building their own garden but they are not aware of how their surrounding is getting affected because of their negligence towards the environment.  We considered this transformation to go into another level of consciousness among the local communities to make them aware that this is their land and how this transformation took place into a very positive manner. And to do this we had to work on the land.

The basic understanding of the any matter comes from its root hence the below infographic reflection describes how the different stages of evolution of Gardening as a practice of Art and Design took place globally.
After understanding the evolution of Gardening as a practice of Art and Design, the below illustration depicts different elements of Art and Design of Gardening which is perceived through an individual.
In order to pour light on their mind, we decided to talk to them individually and with every age group.

When we were asking them about their views on the garden, they expressed their confusion about the vision of the garden and many of them were scared of snakes as they had already faced issue in their respective apartments and what kind of plantations have been done so that they can avail the maximum benefit out of it.

We started working on different signage for the garden on different issues like for the alertness of the snake, vision of the garden and the names of the plants with its descriptions.

The material for every signage has to very sustainable yet Eco-friendly. Hence the signage for variety of plants was decided to make it on clay tiles and for the signage for the Alertness of the Snake and Vision of the Garden has to be strong and cost effective so the design has to be accurate, simple and yet appealing to the local people.

In order to promote this Community Garden in Social Media Platform I have made some social media post for Instagram
