Bisbee'17 Social Content

Filmmaker Robert Greene wanted to reinvent the way old western stories were depicted by taking a new approach when filming Bisbee'17. In 1917, Bisbee, AZ saw nearly two-thousand immigrant miners violently rounded up and shipped to the middle of the New Mexican desert where left there to die. The film documents locals as they stage a large scale recreation of the deportation itself. The challenge was to generate content that represented this horrific event by providing viewers with what the days leading up to the deportation event may have looked like. The concept was based around wanted posters found in the old west, giving viewers an understanding of the films' genre at first glance. The result was a series of posters with thick black letters on a red backdrop that created the same sense of unsettling urgency that the townspeople felt during the original event.
