Concept & rationale
The objective of this brief was to design our own 12 page Fanzine about an issue of our choice.
For my fanzine I chose South African food and flora. My concept for this brief was inspired by the restaurant, Wolfgat, in Paternoster which makes use of “strandveld“ in their dishes. The reason being that it combined my original two concepts together which were medicinal uses of South African flora and truly South African food. I tried to go for a simplistic botanical journal style in the way that I made it look like I had taped down specimans of the plants on the page, using a paperclip for the photographs, using handwritten typeface as well as by making a few drawings. I wanted it to look like found things that were separate but put together in my zine, named Forage which I found suitable for my concept.
