Anthropocene: male name. First mentioned by Paul Crutzen in 2002, Nobel Prize in Chemistry. It defines the current period of geological time, when human activities have a strong impact on the planet's ecosystems (biosphere) and transform them at all levels. The beginning of the anthropocene is coincided with the beginning of the industrial revolution in the eighteenth century.
