Other people's heartache

Other peoples Heartache pt. 1
This is a redesign of the mixtape "Other people's heartache (pt.1)" by the British band Bastille. The project was a way for them to experiment with different sounds, make covers of other people's songs and incorporate movies (which is the lead singer Dan Smith's big inspiration). The songs on this mixtape are sampled with soundbites from the movies "Requiem for a dream" (2000) dir. Darren Aronofsky, "American Beauty" (1999) dir. Sam Mendes and "Twin peaks: fire walk with me" (1992) dir. David Lynch among others.

I chose to take inspiration from the movies that were sampled in the songs. I began to draw Jennifer Connelly's character, Marion Silver in "Requiem for a dream" from one of the many brutal scenes from the movie. I felt that the brutality that was inflicted on the character embodied the essence of what Bastille meant with "Other people's heartache"
The cover mostly consists of drawings drawn on the drawing program, "Painttool Sai" and later given a distorted and smeared effect in Adobe Photoshop, to mimic the feeling of elusiveness.

Thanks for checking out my project!
