From the first drafts of massive hanging spheres in the forest I was hooked to in. I also knew I wanted to work on an environment concept that would be highly dependent on the local climate (probably heavily influence by the crazy mythos created by George R. R. Martin "for" Game of Thrones and their years long winters). I just love how it gives meaning to the culture of the people inhabiting this world and, most of all, how can shift any preconceptions about the surroundings.

This idea evolved into creating a deploy-able colony. It had to be able to resist very hostile environment by using the natural protection of a canyons. But, theses canyons so happen to transform into rivers during the seasonal floods. There came the need for seal-able spheres. if the water comes up too high, they'd just seal the ground access lift and float!

This also makes those people very close to all water seeking life forms and lush vegetation. So close that the more I draw, the more I think they made this choice for the quality of the lifestyle it brings...

So here are the first drafts of this environment, mostly tumbnails size ( 9cm x 4cm)
Drop as many comments as you like, there sure is lot more to come so I'll appreciate any input!

I feel I have to thank Feng Zhu for this push of creation, I had a chance to get my hand on a copy of his DVD on perspective...wow. Simple, clean, efficient sum up of skills and tricks needed to get a good sens of space in no time! That's The STUFF!!
