PROJECT REFLECTION

Reflecting back on this project it was certainly one of the most challenging projects I have done to date. The reason for it being so hard was because the project was completely user research based and user designed based, so for the first time ever in a university project to develop a product I needed to rely on my chosen users to guide me in designing my Lawn Mower.

What makes it hard to design for users is that, your taste and the users tastes aren't always the same, so you have to back out of your design style and design for the user and what the user likes. What makes this hard is that as a designer you always want what is best and to deliver the best product you can deliver and now you can't because you have to design what is best via the users perception of the product. Furthermore conflicting feedback via the users made it even more hard to design because now you have to use your own designer discretion while listening and designing for the users.

Lastly this type of design was eye opening to see how a users input can be used and made into a product. To see the users reaction to the product was quite spectacular because I had to get into their heads and design accordingly. However, the design was successful in the end.
