Sanscery is a typeface that I designed by hand based off of my calligraphy. Below you can see the process that I took to complete the lowercase set.

All letters started with a pen and ink drawing in chancery cursive. These were then scanned in to the computer and sized appropriately to complete full scale pencil drawings. I then brought the pencil drawings into Illustrator to create outlines of the letters.
As you will see below, my goal was to balance my chancery cursive with a sans serif. This was an interesting exercise due to the fact that chancery cursive is a very flowing cursive with very strong serifs and sans serifs are usually more rigid.
This typeface is far from completed. I will continue to work under the guidance of Kris Holmes through May 2013 to fully tweak and finalize my lowercase set as well as complete a set of capital letters, numerals and accents.

Sanscery Typeface

This typeface was created under Kris Holmes in a typeface design class. I evolved my chancery cursive calligraphy into this sans serif typeface.
