The project began with a series of concept art sketches attempting to capture the client's verbally conveyed goal.
Sketch 05 was favored by the client for its minimalism and inclusion of an eighth note within the symbol, and so the second wave of sketches exploring all the different ways to take that approach began.
After experimenting with different angles and styles, we arrived at a more straight-edge depiction closer to the original Sketch 05. A brush-stroke style for the lower jaw was always part of the initial parameters, and the cleanness of the lines in black provided a balancing contrast.
With the client's OK, a final presentation was prepared, showing several different overlay and graphical effects to diversify the logo's implementation.
Typography used is Shizuka Script, displaying the client's musical brand name.
