Ciemność widoma - Darkness Visible
The subjects of my diploma is depression. In this project I tried to show my feelings and emotions I felt during depression. The quotes I used in my work come from William Styron's essay Darkness Visible: A Memoir of Madness, Antoni Kępiński's Melancholia and from an interview with a writer Tomasz Jastrun. The animations contain full quotes and the corresponding posters contain a tagline from a quote.

Original posters were printed on aluminum foil-like paper to imitate the surface of a mirror. I wanted to show again that there are different types of depression. By looking in the mirror, in which we see ourselves and the rest of the world, black paint obscures our vision in different ways. Therefore, we never see the real us and how the world really looks. Depression changes not only the perception of ourselves but also of the reality.

the current moment lasts forever

the incorporeal observer is watching

the chamber of torture is inside us

the flayed world

the toxic substance floods the world
