SKETCHBOOK FROM EHP
(EUROPEAN HONORS PROGRAM)
This series is about living in the present and finding joy in the process of daily life in a place that seems to hold the weight of the world within its stone structures. Walking through Rome, you are often reminded of the history which spans from before even jesus walked the earth. Despite its history spanning millennia, Rome seems to be somewhat unchanging. New buildings are built on top of old structures. Rome's people seem to be taken out of a 50's film (notably a Roman Holiday); its roads, its tourists, its attractions, its markets all staying the same.
From EHP, I documented my experience through various sketchbooks. Most are plein airs, or from live models. Though in a section called "In Memory of..." there are portraits from photos.
Other places I have visited and documented in my semester abroad are: Barcelona, Spain; Paris, France; Prague, Czech Republic; Athens, Greece; Amsterdam, Netherlands, and various cities around Italy
PLACES THAT I HAVE DRAWN
ABOUT FAMILY, FRIENDS, STRANGERS, AND STATUES
IN MEMORY OF...
In realization that I had started to forget how my family looks, I started to look back on photos and document in detail family, friends, and strangers of significance in an attempt to remember their faces.
