Journey to Israel

In December 2016, I ventured on a group trip overseas to Israel, finally editing my photographs solely with Adobe Photoshop in mid-2017. I typically use surreal effects and outlandish color in my photographic work, and found that making minor adjustments to color was a very different process. This work taught me to appreciate the natural state of things, as I wanted to preserve the look and feel of Israel as captured through my lens.

This photographic selection exemplifies the primary focus of my work: perception. I show the subtleties of our nature and perceptions of one another. The various subjects are either unaware they’re being photographed, or are aware and stare directly into the lens. In the case of image "In The Space of a Moment," each of the subjects is unaware of another subject's gaze. We are small and many compared to the surrounding vastness, and beings all across the world are just like you and me. In the world today, I think people need to be reminded of our common thread.
