Human|Homeless was a collaborative entry into OCAD University’s Four by Six Design Competition of 2012, a 72-hour design charette. The competition had one goal: create a strategy to eliminate homelessness in the City of Toronto.

Human|Homeless attempts to raise awareness of this growing problem by erecting monuments throughout the city marking where homeless people may have lay helpless. The monuments are large, cohesive, and impossible to ignore. By simply saying “In Memory Of,” It entices the user to approach the monument and scan the QR code. The code brings them to a website where they sign a petition that is emailed to influential figures. Human|Homeless hopes to create change by allocating more funding to low-income housing. Each individual email represents a person who wants to make a change.
