Material manipulation takes place the moment we pick up a material. We explore the material through trial and error and through this we learn many attributes of it. 

One of the exciting aspect of design is the ability to try new things and ideas in order to change the way we perceive things around. We change the characteristics either by fusing different materials together or by enhancing it natural state. 

Every material can come in different texture and form. It is the understanding of how to manipulate the material to allow us to maximise the effectiveness of its raw form. 

We have done material manipulation through following exercises-

S- substitute 

C- combine 

A- Adding value 

M- multiply

P- putting it to another use

E- elimination 

R- Reverse/ Rearrange

In this exercise we have used a constant element and manipulated it by translation of these 7 different words. 

Metamorphosis- Through a gradual change in scale, colour, texture  we have transformed the material into a different form
