Redesign of San Diego City Flag

Art Preview:

In class, we had to complete a redesign for a city that is not very good at conveying what the city is about and is bad from the viewpoint of graphic design. The city flag that I choose to remodel was the city flag of San Diego. I choose to redesign San Diego’s city flag because it is what Mr. Davis, our graphic design teacher, calls a seal on a bedsheet. San Diego’s city flag has the city of San Diego’s seal on a canvas that goes red on the left, white in the middle, and then yellow on the right. Also, the city flag has the founding year of San Diego on it, which is 1542. For my redesign, I made a sunset in the background with red, orange, and yellow and then a sun in the middle. The red represents the Hotel del Coronado, the orange represents the sunsets in San Diego, the yellow represents the sandy beaches, and the blue represents the blue waves of the Pacific Ocean. Also, the sun has five rays and there are five main beaches in San Diego. This is my redesign of the San Diego city flag.
