In today’s world, there is a growing need for graphic designers to positively influence the society’s culture. For this project, I was given the task to create work that seeks new cultural and social solutions to generate empathy, create dialogue, foster new ideas and relationships, and offer a powerful and democratic way of expressing, sharing and shaping values. 

The focus of my project was discovering a creative solution to open up a conversation about pornography. From television shows to books pornography is depicted as normal, and even healthy for an individual’s sexual life. More and more research is coming out exposing the harmful effects that pornography has on the brain, relationships, and society.
The goal of my project is to expose the harmful effects pornography has on the brain through an awareness campaign called Rewired. The campaign’s goal is to open up a conversation about the effects pornography has on the brain as well help people make an informed decision about porn use. 

I’ve developed a series of deliverables including identity system, booklet, website, posters, social media ad, and buttons. These deliverables serve to effectively reach my target audience as well as present information.

Deliverable One: Identity System
The name Rewired comes from the idea of “rewiring” the brain. The backward “r” emphasizes the process of change. A thick strikethrough was also added to show the process of crossing out existing beliefs about pornography.

A vibrant color palette and bold text were chosen to catch attention and make the message easy to read and understand.
Deliverable 2: Informational Booklet
The booklet is a key asset to the campaign because it contains information on how pornography affects the brain. A clean layout was chosen to provide an easy to understand guide. The information was collected through Fight the New Drug's reference guide as well as TheTruthAboutPorn.org.
Deliverable 3: Posters
A series of 3 posters were created to either be shown together or separately. I included statements about porn that are believed by society (e.g. "Porn is healthy") and used a colored strike-through to negate the statement. These posters are meant to pique curiosity, start conversations, and guide people to the website.
Deliverable 4: Instagram Ad
My target audience for this campaign are college students and young adults. During my research I found that the best way to reach my audience is through social media. An Instagram ad was created in order to increase the effectiveness of my campaign.
