This project, titled "Incomplete" is an handcrafted design book meant to translate my complex feelings as a late generation immigrant to the United States and feelings of lost culture and identity into a physical form. Deeply personal in nature the book has an heirloom recipe for "noni cookies" or "anginetti" on the even numbered pages and photos and profiles of myself and family members on the obverse side.
Where information about the person is unknown it is physically removed from the page. This is meant to symbolize that forming identity without this knowledge is like trying to make a recipe with steps missing. It is also intended to harken back to my journey of trying to learn more about my family but fining records have been destroyed or lost in the United States, or not accessible or in Italy.
Highlighting feelings of loss, frustration, and melancholy "Incomplete" is one of the most intimate projects I have ever created.
