Publication Design - Man & His Symbols by Carl Jung

Publication Course - AUB
This is Carl Jung's designed book 'Man And His Symbols'. The aim was to create a design that would follow Jung's theories and ideas in a modern approach. Thus, photo montage, typography, illustration (etching), and different kinds of paper were used to create this book. He presents ideas about dreams, sexuality, and the unconscious. Hence, the book delves into the realms of the unconscious with its strange imagery, words and sentences that are cut and not completed and which sometimes are cut at the edge of the book. Different chapters use different kinds of imagery but the use of transparent paper (acetate and tracing paper) is constant throughout the book as it uncovers part of what lies behind it. The cover uses black ink on black canson paper in addition to a part that was written on parchment paper which goes around the cover and the back of the book to write one sentence by Jung that says: "It seems to me that I have had this dream endless times.. I fear I may be too late, but in his presence, the oracle has to decide my fate for a second time. On this occasion it is in my favor, I am saved."
