AMSTERDAM
Inspired by the neon-washed urban settings of cities such as Tokyo and NYC (circa 1975), this shoot was formed with Cyberpunk in the front of mind.
An emphasis was given to lighting, form, and environment. Using only a red neon light, we wanted to avoid as much alteration to the picture as possible.
The light belonged to a New York pool hall named Amsterdam. Using the light as part of the environment helped to further establish the feeling of light surrounding the subject and, furthermore, playing a role in their day to day life.
The subjects also exhibit a moderate and rather small array of emotions. As though the constant wash of neon lights numb any emotional life one may have in this environment.
