IU DAY: Robert Liu Memorial Endowment
CONTEXT
Working under Indiana University's Student Affairs' Graphic Designing team, I was given the task to create printables for IU Day.
ROLE
I was given the task of creating an illustration, logo, poster and a banner for Robert Liu's Memorial Endowment. I was also tasked with creating posters, banners, stickers, and social media advertisement for organizations such as the Veteran Support Services and the Scholarships for Students.
OUTCOME
Out of all the IU Day prints that I created, I appreciate the poster done for Robert Liu the most. As an artist, I value creating meaningful work with emotions that would touch others. I wouldn't say graphic designing is something I love doing (though I do enjoy it and I'm super grateful that I've been given the opportunity to do it)-- it's more like the second best thing to illustrating. But after seeing so many of my works around campus, I couldn't help but be humbled, because the truth is, when I was illustrating, the things I created never got printed out and they didn't really mean anything to anyone. But today, people were using my things and they were being affected by my work! After meeting Rob Liu's friends and father, and seeing how much this particular work meant to them, I got the "this is why I do what I do" moment.
I didn't personally know Rob, but I know that he was a colorful, creative, intelligent, multitalented individual that has touched many lives including mine.
