Eugene Frost's profile

Of Strawberry & Emploits

Of Strawberry & Emploits is an interactive graphic novel prototype I have made as my graduation project. It is a mixture of childhood memories, myths, legends & fairy tales in a reality where you can hardly see the difference between them. Daily suburb routine of protagonists is transformed with their youthful eagerness of heroic deeds & imagination. But heroic deeds in a fantasy world are still heroic deeds. Choices & moral dilemmas they confront have importance & consequences in a real world. Without further ado, please check it out!
Start screen
Protagonists, two teenage boys, spend their summer in some distant rural area. In Prologue they wake up lazily & so the day starts.
Prologue walkthrough
Marginal interactive elements create the context: they can indicate either a location, a date, an emotional state, thoughts or memories of protagonists.
At the end of each chapter there is a choice between two ways to pass the next one.
Here the Siege way is chosen
In the siege way of Chapter I boys are sent to the well to collect some water. When they get bored & decide to shoot arrows at the bucket, they find themselves combatants in a terrifyingly realistic medieval siege.
Chapter I walkthrough
As this is a prototype, let us pass right to the epilogue. As the night falls, the village falls asleep, while boys are lying on couches in the same room where the day started, but it is completely different now being filled with artefacts, trophies & memories of the passed day.
Epilogue walkthrough
At any time a player can check his location in the story or on the map as well as have a look at the summary of the current chapter or the state of the starting room.
Every choice made makes some new artifacts & trophies appear in the starting room so by the end of the day it is a completely new place filled with memories of the passed day's adventures.
