I've been reading much more home-grown literature than I used to and I thought it would be a fun project to re-imagine a selection of these as a boxed set. I selected five books that I felt were iconic examples of Australian literature - not necessarily classics of yesteryear, but modern icons, all created in the last 30 years. As they are relatively recent books, the project was not so much to create cover designs that would help a contemporary audience approach the work in a frame of mind, such as might be done for Austen or the Brontes. All these books have appeared over the years with various covers and I was curious to see how they would look presented together, as contemporaries of each other and with a fresh aesthetic. Incorporating my own pencil illustrations, I ended up with three concepts that I felt fit the bill.
