Tomorrow is a Quarterly Magazine that focuses on African Americans abroad in foreign cities around the world. The focus of this magazine was inspired by the Academic Trip I took to Tokyo and Seoul. The fact that it is uncommon to find African Americans in either city made it an even more difficult task to find articles (online or printed) that talk about African Americans in said cities, other than in America.

The design for each magazine focuses on inspiration on the city that the magazine features (for example, right now the featured city is Tokyo). Obscure type and bold blocks of color were inspired not only by Tokyo's night life but even the day life. Color and Shapes play a big part in the Japanese culture, and it deserved to be honored in the magazine. Spot colors are selected by the overall feeling that the city gives off, meaning with each new city the magazine has a different spot color.
Since the inside design is Black and White with a single spot color, it was hard finding a balance of everything. The decision was made to make the base of the magazine white and then to add portions of black (text and images) to find the right balance between the two colors and finally at the end to add the bright spot color to highlight the parts of the magazine that needed to be showcased.
The featured type, Post Grotesk and Hurme Geometric Sans, were paired together because they each play a specific role while complimenting each other. Post Grotesk was used as the body text due to the ability to be very clear and legible at a smaller point size. Hurme Geometric Sans was used because it stands out no matter what point size it is set at. It was used to create the magazine logo and to typeset the small details such as the page numbers and some headers.
